We are seeking enthusiastic new colleagues as a postdoc in the field of characterization of magnetic material and electric machine design with strong interest in industrial applications and cooperation to join Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at the SDU campus in Sønderborg.
The application deadline is March 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM/23:59 (CET/CEST)
The centre has currently approximately 30 faculty members including senior (full and associate professors), junior (assistant professors and postdocs), PhDs, and support staff. The task portfolio of the postdoc will be linked to one main project and several smaller projects within CIE. CIE is embedded in a powerhouse in electronics, which includes researchers and developers at universities and industries on both sides of the Danish-German border. CIE is a new initiative striving for high quality and great impact of its research, innovation, and education. Central to achieving this objective is access to state-of-the-art facilities and collaborations with industries.
The aim of the position is to build strong knowledge and competencies within the field of power electronics especially in the fields of motor integrated drives, power to X, advanced power electronic simulation or control and reliability of modern power devices.
Job Description (Control of BLDC/PMSM machines)
You will conduct research in the field of design of electric machines fed by WBG power electronic converter.
You will do research on characterization of magnetic material used for electric machine.
You will do research and design of polyphaser PM motors as SMPM , IPM, and outer rotor motor.
You will do research on noise and vibration reduction due to the harmonics injected in electric machine due to switching converters.
You will use advanced finite element analysis techniques and tools such as ANSYS for electric motor design.
You will do research on loss minimization of electric machine.
You will do research on winding structure to reduce harmonics due to current in the winding structure.
You will apply simulation and design tools, build demonstrators, and verify your simulation by experimental measurements.
You will do research on Multiphysics simulation (electrical, mechanical, and thermal) for electric machine
You will do research on power electronic setups for electric drives.
You will participate in planning, execution, and documentation of projects with industrial partner.
You will be involved in the daily supervision of PhD, master’s and bachelor’s students that perform research on similar topic.
You will publish and present your work both at international conferences and in scientific journals with high impact.
You will assist in teaching activities.
Profile and Requirements
You have a PhD degree in design of electric machine, electric drives, Power Electronics or related fields.
You have experience in design, development, and control of electric machine using WBG devices-based power converters.
You have experience with state of art FEA simulation tools such as ANSYS.
You have experience in demonstration building.
You have experience with standard control methods used for power electronics applications.
You have published in high-impact conferences and journals in the field of design and control of electric machine.
You are a team player and have strong communication skills.
You are interested in a longer-term commitment in a growing research group, and you are willing to work in close cooperation with industry.
